The story
A SUSPENSEFUL, PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER AND CRIME DRAMA.
Winter City chronicles the childhood and adolescent years of an abandoned, abused and lonely boy named Sam Winters.
During a pronged encounter with a religious cult, Sam Winters' traumatic life experiences manifest as a severe psychological disorder; a split personality. Sam develops a twisted and vengeful dark side that claims itself to be one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.
As the tragic life story of Sam Winters unfolds in the past, the reader will bare witness to the resulting events as they develop in the present; the harrowing ramifications of Sam's upbringing combined with unimaginable personal tragedy. The sad and innocent child lost and in his place, the most terrifying serial killer the world has ever known; The Winter City Reaper.
Homicide detectives Marshal Daniels and Janet Harvey are tasked with identifying and arresting the Winter City Grim Reaper. What begins as a seemingly straight forward murder case quickly escalates into series of brutal assassinations executed by an unstoppable killer without fear or remorse.
Critical acclaim
WINTER CITY IN THE PRESS.
"Fans of dark vigilantes like Spawn and Batman will definitely find something to love with Winter City... another book that needs to be added to my pull list, and once you read it, I'm certain you will be in the same boat as me."
ComicsOnline
"This title really can knock spots off of some mainstream books, and any fan of horror comics should check it out... the best thing to come out of Australia since rock band AC/DC."
ComicBooked
"I want to see more. If you like an engaging story with multiple threads, family angst, hardened cops and the odd violent death, then Winter City delivers that nicely."
Bleeding Cool
"Munoz is better right now than some artists who are actually working for DC, and he brings a ton of energy to the story... [Winter City] zips along confidently, and it seems like the Purcells are working toward something big."
CBR - Good Comics
"This is a dark and disturbing fable that challenges the received wisdom of superhero comics... With its willingness to tackle such dark material and excel in the attempt, we could be witnessing a very special book take shape"
